Station 1 Duty Crew Goes To Fruitland Apartment Fire - 216 Poplar St

On August 10, at 18:51 hours stations 3, 1 and 15 were alerted for a reported apartment on fire in Fruitland. The duty crew from station 1 responded with four personel. Dispatch advised they were receiving numerous 911 calls stating a working fire in one of the apartments. Command 3 arrived on location with 3 story garden style, with fire from sides A and C of a terrace level apartment. Engine 301 and Truck 1 would arrive almost simultaneously, with 301 taking the front and truck 1 taking the rear for better access. The crew from 301 stretched and made a strong push on the fire room, with the crew of truck 1 advancing right behind them making a very rapid primary search of all rooms of the affected apartment. Engine 302 arrived and secured a secondary water source and took position on side D. Engine 15 would arrive and assume RIT responsibilites, also securing the power to the apartment. Engine 1 arrived and pulled a second line and checked the floor above for any extension. The fire would be knocked down within 10 min and the incident was under control at approx. 19:15. All searches would prove negative and the scene was turned over to the Maryland State Fire Marshalls. Great work by first units on the scene to make and aggressvie attack and keep the fire from spreading to any other apartments. Last units cleared at 20:32.
