Salisbury Fire Department

Safety Check

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention fire and burns are the 3rd leading cause of fatal home injury. They report that in 2010 someone died in a fire every 169 minutes, and every 30 minutes someone was injured in a fire. The report goes on to say that there were 384,000 home fires in 2010 that resulted in 2,640 deaths and 13,350 injuries.

Realizing that many fire related deaths and injuries are preventable the City of Salisbury Fire Department conducts complimentary home fire safety checks. This is a FREE service provided to residents within the Salisbury Fire Department response district. The safety check is conducted by on-duty Fire Fighters and typically takes less than thirty minutes to complete.

During the safety checks Fire Fighters will check every room in your house to look for common fire and safety issues. They will offer suggestions to help safeguard your family in the unfortunate event of a home fire. The Fire Department issues no citations or fines based on findings of a home fire safety check; this is just a service provided to ensure the health and welfare of citizens within their homes.
